Hot take - Don't say Happy Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day… I can’t tell you how many times I hear shows proclaim this, in addition to “Happy Monday!” “Happy Tuesday!” “Happy Thursday!” and “Happy Friday!” 

I have one question. Have you ever said that to someone in person? 

It’s not natural speech, and yet we say it on the radio all the time. 

One excellent filter for on-air delivery: How likely would it be for you to say this to a friend in real life? If the answer is not very, it’s time for a rewrite. 

I would also add these radio terms to the list of words to avoid -- 

- top of the hour

- bottom of the hour

- next hour

- last hour
